Sunday was a perfect time for a visit to Gilbertsville, NY, to see quilts by local artisans in the historic setting of the Major’s Inn. The exhibit included 223 pieces. Many of the featured quilts were created by a visiting California quilter, from Walnut Creek, who does amazing applique and and hand quilting.

Last night was cold, almost frosty. Our frogs are no longer plopping into the pond when we pass by, as they are preparing for winter hibernation. This baby green froglet made his metamorphosis in a jar on our screened porch in June. Chelsea caught him as a tadpole and released him back into the pond, before we returned to California.

A walk up our trail this morning was illuminated by the fallen leaves in the woods. The spring that fills the uphill frogpond was running strong and was flanked by a newly placed deer decoy. Our dogs picked up many scents, but we didn’t see any creatures except for migrating geese forming their noisy V squadrons, high in the air.
